SAPD Honors for Members

Retired members of the San Antonio Police Department are eligible for various honors that may be requested by your family should you want them. These honors consist of:

• Honor Watch one hour prior to beginning of your funeral service.
• Pallbearers.
• Flag folding and presentation (2 or 6 man flag fold).
• Honorary escort for the procession by the SAPD Traffic Motor Unit.
• Flag from the State of Texas presented to family, either at the funeral or afterwards.

Your family or the funeral home may contact the Office of the Chief to have the on-call Family Assistance Officer assist them in arranging for these to be handled. Understand that each one is done on a voluntary basis and dependant on current manpower needs of the department.

Please be sure your family is aware of these honors so that your service to the San Antonio Police Department and the City of San Antonio will be recognized.
