ZOOM VIRTUAL MEETING OF April 13, 2021

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 1:30 PM by President Mike Trainer.

OPENING CEREMONIES

Our invocation was led by President Trainer which was followed by our members reciting the pledge of allegiance.

There were 8 board members were present for the April 13, 2021 meeting.

REPORTS of OFFICERS

Presidents Report

Mike reported that the Luncheon is a go at this time. The board approved having the luncheon with the option to cancel or postpone if not allowed from government, CDC or State regulations.

President Trainer also reported that the Health Fund upcoming meeting will be held out of town and this will limit the number of members that can attend.

Recording Secretary

The minutes of the March 09, 2021 meeting were presented.  There were no corrections, additions or deletions noted.

Treasurer

Treasurer Charles Ricketts reported on the Associations’ deposits and expenses and gave a detailed explanation of monies in all accounts.

Corresponding Secretary – Fire

David Perez reported he sent out 4 sympathy cards to members that passed during the previous month.

Corresponding Secretary – Police

Armando Ynostrosa reported he sent out 2 sympathy cards to members families that passed and 1 get well card during the previous month.

REPORTS of COMMITTEES

Pension Fund Committee

Larry Reed reported the fund was at 3.78 Billion which is up 110 million, a 4.2% increase YTD.  13th check went out on 3/12/2021.  4.5% is needed for a 13th check this year.  Elections for active fire and retired fire trustee positions are ongoing.  Inflation is up 1.3% YTD form 2021.  The next board meeting is 4-28-2021. 

Pre-Funded Health Insurance Committee

Henry Trevino and Alex Perez were both present for the meeting.  James Bounds reported the Fund is at $473,158,070.46.  The recent workshops were held out of town due to attendance issues with the trustees being called away if in town.  Tele-Medicine has been extended through June 30, 2021.  There will be a benefits meeting on May 10, 2021 at a site yet to be determined. 

PAC Fund Committee/ Endorsement Committee

Bart Moczygemba reports that the PAC sent contributions of $500 each to John Courage and Clayton Perry for their council campaigns.  A $1500 donation to Greg Brockhouse for his mayoral campaign.  The PAC has also approved an expenditure to buy shirts for the campaign poll workers for the upcoming city election. 

PAC Treasurers Report

PAC Treasurer, Don Wagoner was not present to give the financial report.

GOOD AND WELFARE

Member Dean Martin was concerned that his new wife was not able to join our health insurance.  The Health Fund ruling on that situation was explained.

Member Curtis Franz made a motion that the PAC pay for and send out a postcard to members to vote against Prop. B and to support Clayton Perry if you live in his district.  The motion was seconded by member Joe Garza Jr and after discussion it was determined the Pension office will provide labels for us to do the mailout, but we cannot give the list to a 3rd party.  Vote was 16 for and 4 against and motion passes 80% -20%. 

ADJOURNMENT

President Trainer adjourned the meeting without opposition.
