MINUTES OF June 11, 2019

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 1:30 PM by President Mike Trainer.
OPENING CEREMONIES
Our invocation was led by Rev. Whitley which was followed by our Sergeant at Arms, Bill Lambrides, leading the members in reciting the pledge of allegiance.

SPEAKER OF THE MONTH
Our speaker for the June meeting was Mike Helle, President of the San Antonio Police Officers Association. Mike addressed our Association in appreciation of our PAC donating $20,000 to the SAPOA-PAC to help during the recent San Antonio City Council and Mayor election. The election was discussed and a question from the floor about the police report on candidate Brockhouse was explained and the possible scenarios as to how it came about.
REPORTS of OFFICERS
Presidents Report
President Trainer announced that Armando Ynostrosa has agreed to take over the Corresponding Secretary Police position and was approved by the board. President Trainer made a motion to approve Armando as Corresponding Secretary Police, motion seconded by David Perez. Motion passed unanimously.
President Trainer also announced that the Pensioners Association now has its own phone #, email address and mailing address separate from the Pension Fund. Our Phone # is 210-452-7553, our email is safppa@gmail.com and the mailing address is P.O.Box 461566 San Antonio TX 78246
Recording Secretary
The minutes of the May 2019 meeting were presented. There were no corrections, additions or deletions noted.
Treasurer
Treasurer Charles Ricketts reported on the Associations’ deposits and expenses and gave a detailed explanation of monies in all accounts. Treasurer Ricketts made available the treasurers report and bank statements for anyone to view if they wished to.
Corresponding Secretary – Fire
David Perez reported that he sent out 4 sympathy cards during the previous month to the families of Ruben Ramon, Jose R Flores Sr, Veronica Perez and Francisca Ynostrosa-Ramon. Get well cards were sent to Edward Wilborn and Juan Gonzalez.
Corresponding Secretary – Police
Armando Ynostrosa reported he sent out sympathy cards to the families of Thelma Williams, Stanley Moryl, Pedro Rodriguez and Carlos Thompson. Get Well cards were sent to John Patmor, Robert Katz and Frank Villela.
REPORTS of COMMITTEES
Pension Fund Committee
Larry Reed reported that the Pension Fund is at 3.17 Billion which is up 158 million YTD or 5.83%. There was no legislation passed this session and there was also no legislation passed that could potently hurt us. Inflation YTD is 0.9%
Pre-Funded Health Insurance Committee
Henry Trevino reported that he did not have the Financial numbers of the Fund at the time of the meeting and that the Fund Director was out in a meeting with Health By Design discussing the possibility of a 3rd clinic that would be located deep west to service membership that does not use either clinic.
PAC Fund Committee/ Endorsement Committee
Bart Moczygemba reported that the PAC had donated to the latest city council candidates at the maximum amount allowed for each.
PAC Treasurers Report
PAC Treasurer, Don Wagoner, reported on the income and expenses of the PAC and gave the balance in the account. Don made the bank records available if anyone wished to look at them.
GOOD AND WELFARE
DOOR PRIZES
There were 2 extra door prizes donated by Armando Ynostrosa of Expressions Designs of $10 each to Bill Miller. Winners of the door Prizes for were M Whitley, B Moczygemba, L Reed, R Martinez, S Acquart, J Shipman, A.D. Smoot and D Wagoner.
ADJOURNMENT
After the door prizes were given, President Trainer adjourned the meeting without opposition.
