CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 1:30 PM by President Mike Trainer.

OPENING CEREMONIES

Our invocation was led by Armando Ynostrosa which was followed by our President, Michael Trainer leading members in our pledge of allegiance.

REPORTS of OFFICERS

Presidents Report

President Trainer expressed interest in trying to get back to in person meetings in 2022 if events warrant it and the Pension Fund agrees.  President Trainer also expressed an interest in trying to get more than one event planned for our members in 2022 so we can get back together again. 

Recording Secretary

The minutes of the September 14, 2021 meeting were presented.  There was one date corrections made to the file copy.

Treasurer

Treasurer Charles Ricketts reported on the Associations’ deposits and expenses and gave a detailed explanation of monies in all accounts.

Corresponding Secretary – Fire

David Perez reported that he sent out 3 sympathy cards during the previous month.

Corresponding Secretary – Police

Armando Ynostrosa reported he sent out four sympathy cards during the previous month.

REPORTS of COMMITTEES

Pension Fund Committee

Larry Reed reported that the fund was at 3.99 Billion which is up 265 million (9%) YTD.  The fund only needs a 3% increase for fiscal year 2021 to consider the 13th check.  Inflation at the end of August was at 4.4% and the September numbers will be out on 10-13-2021.  Larry reports that the Fund will have a 5 year Strategic Planning Retreat this fall.  The next board meeting will be 1 week earlier than usual on 10-20-2021. 

Pre-Funded Health Insurance Committee

Henry Trevino reported that the fund was at $527,132,132.47.  There were several questions from members about the building new clinics which were answered by The Fund director, James Bounds.  There was also discussion from members about all the Medicare programs being offered in the media and James also explained these plans and advises our members not to take them as they will limit your care.

PAC Fund Committee/ Endorsement Committee

Bart Moczygemba reported that the fund would like to contribute to John Lujan, candidate in district 118 house run-off.  Motion was made and seconded to contribute $1500 to his campaign, motion passed.

PAC Treasurers Report

PAC Treasurer, Don Wagoners’, report on the income and expenses of the PAC were presented by Bart Moczygemba.
