MINUTES OF October 08, 2019

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 1:30 PM by President Mike Trainer.

OPENING CEREMONIES

Our invocation was led by Rev. A.D. Smoot which was followed by our Sergeant at Arms, Bill Lambrides, leading the members in reciting the pledge of allegiance.

SPEAKER OF THE MONTH

Our Speaker for October was Nicole Hoyt, Vice President of Ride Connect Texas.  Nicole spoke of the organization’s goal to get seniors to appointments and how they are always looking for additional volunteers to help.  Volunteers are compensated on a mileage base and the organization carries liability insurance while the client is in the seat. 

REPORTS of OFFICERS

Presidents Report

President Trainer asked the nominating committee for their recommendations for the board positions up for election.  Recommendations are Mike Trainer – President, Charles Ricketts – Treasurer, Armando Ynostrosa – Corresponding Secretary Police and Mary Holub – Parliamentarian.  President Trainer also advised that anyone else wishing to run for any of these offices may do so by announcing at the November meeting prior to the election.

President Trainer asked Luncheon Chairman Earnest Gay for a report for the Luncheon.  I reported that everything was set in place and that I needed two volunteers to work the fron lobby to guide the members in to the correct check-in lines.

Recording Secretary

The minutes of the, 2019 meeting were presented.  There were two corrections made on screen to the file copy.

Treasurer

Treasurer Charles Ricketts reported on the Associations’ deposits and expenses and gave a detailed explanation of monies in all accounts. Treasurer Ricketts made available the treasurers report and bank statements for anyone to view if they wished to.

Corresponding Secretary – Fire

David Perez reported on three deaths during the previous month and sympathy cards were sent on our behalf to the families.

Corresponding Secretary – Police

Armando Ynostrosa reported that there were four deaths and two illnesses during the past month.  Sympathy cards were sent to the families of those that passed and get well cards were sent to those that were ill.  Recording Secretary also Reported on one illness that he forgot to send to Armando.

REPORTS of COMMITTEES

Pension Fund Committee

Larry Reed and Harry Griffin reported the fund is at 3.24 Billion which is up 226 million YTD.  This is approx.. 8.6%.  Inflation for the year so far is 1.5%.  The next board meeting is on Wednesday, October 30 at 9am. 

Pre-Funded Health Insurance Committee

Henry Trevino reported that the fund was at $394,655,217.87.  This is up 1.7 million.

PAC Treasurers Report

PAC Treasurer, Don Wagoner, reported on the income and expenses of the PAC and gave the balance in the account.  Don made the bank records available if anyone wished to look at them.

DOOR PRIZES

There were two extra door prizes donated by Armando Ynostrosa of Expressions Designs of $10 gift cards to Bill Millers.   Door prize winners for the October 2019 meeting were L Reed, O Ortiz, A Jimenez, G Ehrlich, D Gay, D Schultz, G Tyler and J Baer.

ADJOURNMENT

After the door prizes were given, President Trainer adjourned the meeting without opposition.
