The Board of Trustees for the San Antonio Fire and Police Pension Fund on April 28 certified election results for the election which concluded Monday, April 26.
I would like to put in plain and simple words, the attempt to take away Collective Bargaining from PD is an attempt to not only Defund the Police but to render them defenseless, not only at the bargaining table but in the streets also.
Police all over the country are already retiring or quitting at a rapid pace. This creates problems not only of crime prevention but extends the effects to our Pension systems and Health Care. Our Pension Fund and Health Care fund are modeled on an average rate of retirements.
If the Police lose collective bargaining, the effects could impact both of our retirement systems. The other issue to consider is that if the Police lose Collective Bargaining, The Fire department may not be far behind. There have been previous efforts to take away our bargaining rights. This would only embolden those efforts.
To All Police and Fire retirees that can vote in the upcoming election in San Antonio. GO VOTE!!!!!
Talk to your family, friends and neighbors,
